I had the luck of seeing The Allman Brothers play second on the bill, in early 1971 at the Fillmore West/Carousel Ballroom, supporting Hot Tuna.

Opening was the Trinidad Steel Drum Band way before steel drums were common on downtown SF sidewalks.


2nd on the bill.... Duane stole the show. Mesmerising performance..

Sorry Jorma and Jackie boy, you were blown off the world stage (in a friendly sense) that night.

Or better said, perhaps, we in the AUD were blown away.

Next day, my bud who saw the show with me ran out and bought the debut Allman Bros LP.

Midnight Rider ruled the turntable for a full 4 minutes.

Better live though.
